Helping Women Win the Fight Against Breast Cancer

FIRST FRIDAY was created in 1994 by a small group of local women who came together to fight breast cancer in South Texas.  FIRST FRIDAY has held annual fundraising events featuring breast cancer survivor celebrity speakers.  The Fashion Show and Luncheon has gained popularity each year and occurs on the second Saturday of October. A prayer breakfast is also held each year. 

Proceeds from these events, along with CHRISTUS Spohn Health System's annual contributions, have underwritten thousands of screening mammograms for the women of South Texas.

Partnering with FIRST FRIDAY, CHRISTUS Spohn Health System's Breast Care Program brings together all aspects of breast cancer awareness and detection, emphasizing education and community outreach. All CHRISTUS Spohn Hospitals (Alice, Beeville, Kleberg) including CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi (Memorial, South and Shoreline) offer mammograms and participate in the FIRST FRIDAY free mammogram program.

The unique relationship between FIRST FRIDAY volunteers and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System has created the foremost breast cancer awareness program in South Texas.
