The South Texas Charity Weekend has provided monumental philanthropic support to CHRISTUS Spohn Health System, and its most recent gift will continue a legacy of health care excellence in the Kingsville area for years to come.

The annual fundraiser’s 2016 gift helped to provide CHRISTUS Spohn-Kleberg with the most advanced imaging and diagnostic services available today.

An unveiling of a plaque honoring the donation, as well as a first look at the new Optima CT660 Scanner that was purchased for the hospital, took place in November.

The new equipment will provide better image quality for a host of procedures and also has a single-scan process that will shorten the time necessary for a patient to remain inside the scanner.

The new scanner can serve a wide range of applications — cardiac, angiography, brain, chest, abdomen, orthopedic, and more, and is designed to specifically provide a comfortable experience for patients of all ages and sizes.

“The Charity Weekend has defined what it means to truly give back to South Texas,” says Karen Bonner, VP for Philanthropy. “We at CHRISTUS Spohn are grateful for that giving spirit toward our entire health care ministry.”
