CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline celebrated the final phase of the $335 million Master Facility Plan with a grand opening at the new North Tower on March 28. The Grand Opening celebration featured a special dedication and mass, a commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony, and tours.
“We are excited to provide South Texans with the very best facilities to receive their medical care,” said Dr. Osbert Blow, President and Chief Medical Officer for CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. “Throughout this five-year journey, we have said caring for our community is not just our mission, it’s our promise.”
Members of the CHRISTUS Spohn executive team, physicians, elected officials and friends of our ministry toured the new patient care tower that includes 200 new patient beds and houses a new state-of-the-art Emergency Department and Level II Trauma Center. Bishop Mulvey presided over the inaugural mass and blessing of the new Chapel prior to the Grand Opening festivities. The stained-glass windows, stations of the cross, altar and holy water fountain from the Welder Chapel, which served the older facility for the past 70 years, were all moved to the new chapel.
“Thank you to all of our generous supporters. Because of you and your generosity, we are able to provide high-quality health care services that our patients deserve close to home,” says Karen Bonner, Vice President for Philanthropy.
