Kieschnick Guest House
“Every house where love abides and friendship is a guest, Is surely home and home sweet home; For there the heart can rest.” — Henry Van Dyke
The Kieschnick Guest House is a special “home away from home” for families who have loved ones in a CHRISTUS Spohn Health System hospital.
The Guest House is located across the street from CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital-Shoreline and has 19 guest rooms, each with a private bath and access to a central living room. A house coordinator is available during the day to help you get settled and to answer any questions you may have.
The Guest House is provided as a community service for families at a minimal donation of $25 per night, to defray routine maintenance. Gifts above the amount of donation are welcome and are used to support the Guest House.
Guest rooms offer a queen-size bed and cannot accommodate more than two guests per room. One guest room per patient is typical, however, exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Guest House coordinator.
Reservations may be made for the Guest House by calling Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please call at least three days before arrival to confirm your room reservation.
We are unable to accommodate children under age 12, or pets. The Guest House is not a medical facility and does not provide medical services of any kind to its guests.
For more information, please call the Guest House coordinator at 361-881-3000.
The Kieschnick Guest House is named for early 20th Century South Texas settler Otto Kieschnick. One of his descendants, prominent Central Texas real estate developer Dick Rathgeber, made the Guest House’s construction possible with a challenge gift in the mid-1980s and chose the name to honor his ancestor.
Views of Corpus Christi Bay, just yards away at the end of Ayers Street, add to the Guest House’s tranquility. Many aspects of the Guest House — its paint scheme, light fixtures, carpeting and furniture coverings — were transformed in 2011 as part of a 25th anniversary renovation.
