Women gathered at the Alice Country Club Tuesday for the first Girl Talk with three area doctors who answered questions ranging from heart health to menopause.
Girl Talk was sponsored by the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital’s Live Well Women’s Network to help empower women and answer questions. The panel of experts for the event were Dr. Suraj G. Kamat, MD, Dr. Daniel C. Gray, MD and Judy Perdue, Nurse Practitioner. Each answered questions about sex, diabetes, signs of a heart attack and dieting.
The women in attendance wrote down medical questions on their minds that are sometimes too personal to ask their own doctors. About 30 women attended the session. They received tote bags along with tokens to take home.
Dr. Kamat said women make all the health care decisions for their families and are usually the caregivers.
“It all depends on how women take care of themselves,” Dr. Gray said.
The doctors gave out medical advise as they joked using examples to inform women.
The most important advise the doctors gave was to speak with their own family doctor.
A big part of finding solutions to your medical questions is to talk with your doctor, the panel advised.
